Father’s Day weekend in June 2016, we were spending the weekend together on the Catalina (Daring Greatly) at the marina. It was a nice weekend to get away from the rental and be alone together. One of her sons was living with us. We were far into “boat search mode”, looking for a bigger boat. I had already found Cassie for sale on Yachtworld. Within a week we would come to an agreement on the sale price.
Sunday morning (Father’s Day) as we lay together in bed, I asked her to marry me. She said “yes” immediately. I asked her if she didn’t want to think about it before replying as I didn’t expect her answer so quickly. Silly me.
We were married on July 23, 2016. We decided it would be a small wedding with only our kids and their families. That meant my two sons, and Mary’s oldest daughter with her husband and children, and her other daughter and two sons. We were married on the deck of Daring Greatly while she was tied at the dock. Our families stood on the dock to witness and share in this beautiful day.
Mary was a beautiful bride. It was a joyful day.
