Fun to be in Print – Latitude 38 Magazine June 2021

When we were contacted by Latitude 38 to submit a short blurb about our 2020 Nada Ba-Ha experience, they also mentioned there was an opportunity for a longer article. So, we wrote up something that provided more detail to anyone interested in our story of how we started cruising.

That article is published in the June 2021 issue. You can read or download it here. The article appears in the Changes section on page 86. There are a few “errors” that were introduced by the editor (despite my attempts to correct them). We cycled in the “Seattle to Portland” ride, and it’s “only” 204 miles. 🙂

There’s not much new to anyone who’s been reading along here on the blog. But, it’s fun to read anyway. 😉

We found you before we read your announcement. How good to see you faring so well. Your plans sound so good. We are following the Steinbeck/Ricketts Western Flyer” boat restoration, and hope that you have a copy of their book with you to compare your experiences with theirs. Keep up the good fun. Thanks, Linda and Dave! We don’t have a copy of that book. It sounds like interesting.

The restoration of the “Western Flyer” continues in Port Townsend, we saw her a couple of weeks ago through the door in the shed. Very beautiful. The Steinbeck/Ricketts book is titled “Sea of Cortez.” There should be many paperback copies around or if you’re lucky, a hard back. The Wooden Boat Show didn’t come off again this year, sadly, but they were ready to go when we were visiting a few weeks before. We no longer have a boat, but we’ll not lose our interest, for sure. Glad we can see the water from the house. Cruise on, vagabundos.
